A tense and deadly confrontation unfolded in Northridge after an off-duty ICE agent heard gunshots outside his apartment.
According to authorities, the agent was inside his residence on Roscoe Boulevard when he heard shots fired. When he stepped outside to investigate, he was met by a man armed with an assault-style rifle.
Police say the agent identified himself and ordered the suspect to drop the weapon.
The suspect refused.
What happened next was a gunfight.
The suspect allegedly pointed the rifle at the agent and fired at least three rounds, prompting the agent to return fire. The exchange ended with the suspect being fatally shot at the scene.
The agent was not injured.
After the shooting, the officer reportedly went back into his apartment, retrieved his body armor, and then contacted LAPD. The incident is now being investigated by LAPD alongside Department of Homeland Security.
