Ricki Lake faced criticism after sharing a nude photo on Instagram.
The 54-year-old former talk show host posted a selfie where she appeared relaxed in an outdoor tub, surrounded by redwood trees.
Lake accompanied the image with a message about self-acceptance, saying, “Young at 54 and a half years old!
I’m grateful for everything that had to happen in order for me to get here. A place of complete self-acceptance and self-love.”
Lake had been on a journey towards self-love since 2019 but didn’t go public until 2022 when she posted a video of herself shaving her head, discussing her 30-year struggle with hair loss. In the caption, she empathized with others facing similar challenges, sharing her path to tranquility, freedom, and self-acceptance.
Despite criticism from some users, Lake remained unbothered, asserting the freedom to share what creators choose. Her message emphasized the importance of accepting and loving oneself.
In her words, “Worrying about things we cannot control is a waste of time. We must have the capacity to accept and love ourselves, warts and all!”
