Chilling footage has emerged of two passenger jets flying extremely low over a packed stadium packed with tens of thousands of fans.
The incident occurred during a pre-match flyover at Cape Town’s DHL Stadium ahead of a rugby clash between South Africa and New Zealand.
Two Airlink Embraer aircraft, an E190 and an E195, passed just 12 to 14 metres above the stadium roof according to flight data.
As the planes swept over, they cut through colourful pyrotechnic smoke rising from the arena, heightening the dramatic effect.
Many spectators and online viewers described the manoeuvre as horrifically dangerous, warning that any miscalculation could have been catastrophic.
The airline insisted the flight was carefully planned, rehearsed and approved by aviation authorities, remaining within set safety limits.
