Gracey, a 20-year-old student at the University of Alabama, was last seen in the early hours near the Shôko nightclub. Reports indicate he became separated from friends before being seen heading toward the nearby coastline. His body was later discovered in the water not far from that location.

Earlier in the search, personal belongings, including his wallet, had been found in the vicinity, which helped narrow the search area.
