According to reporting from MS NOW, the most recent actions targeted personnel associated with two major federal investigations involving Trump: the January 6, 2021, Capitol events and the handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. Among those dismissed was the special agent in charge of the Atlanta field office, which had been involved in election-related investigations in Georgia.
The acting assistant director overseeing the FBI’s New York field office was also removed. The New York office has historically handled financial and other high-profile matters, including aspects of Trump-related inquiries, though specific roles of the dismissed official were not publicly detailed.
A former special agent in charge of the New Orleans field office, who had since moved to another role within the bureau, was also terminated. Public reports did not clearly establish how that individual’s work intersected with Trump-related investigations, if at all.
