Former longtime television sports reporter turned conservative commentator Michele Tafoya formally entered Minnesota’s U.S. Senate race on Wednesday, presenting herself as a voice of “sanity” and “normalcy” amid what she describes as rising crime, disorder, and political scandal in the state. She accused Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey of fueling hostility toward law enforcement through their rhetoric, arguing that state and city leaders helped create an environment where citizens feel justified confronting federal officers directly.
The controversy has intensified as the Justice Department issued subpoenas to Walz, Frey, and other officials as part of a federal investigation into whether state leaders interfered with immigration enforcement. Tafoya also condemned a recent anti-ICE protest that disrupted a church service, calling it “horrific” and warning that such actions are making Minnesota increasingly unsafe for both law enforcement and the public.
Beyond immigration, Tafoya pointed to Minnesota’s massive fraud scandal as a defining issue of her campaign.
