Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem unloaded on Minnesota Democratic leaders during a CNN interview, blasting Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for what she described as reckless rhetoric that has fueled chaos and violence in the city.

Noem did not mince words, saying Walz and Frey need to “grow up” and start acting like responsible leaders instead of, in her words, “little boys” playing politics while public safety deteriorates. She accused both men of lacking maturity and failing to put the safety of citizens first.
“I would encourage them to grow up, get some maturity, act like people who are responsible, who want people to be safe and the right thing be done,” Noem said, sharply criticizing their conduct amid ongoing unrest in Minneapolis.
The Homeland Security secretary went further, blaming the city’s recent destruction and violence on inflammatory language coming from local leadership. According to Noem, Walz and Frey have actively stoked tensions rather than calming them, emboldening bad actors and undermining efforts to restore order.
“When you use the kind of language that you use against law enforcement officers, they lose their credibility,” Noem warned, arguing that demonizing police and federal agents weakens public trust and makes already dangerous situations far worse.
