During the Biden administration, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on legislation that would relax vetting procedures and increase the number of visas available for Afghan nationals seeking entry into the United States.

This vote generated significant debate in Congress, particularly regarding national security, refugee policy, and the long-term implications of expanding entry programs so quickly after the Afghanistan withdrawal.
While the measure ultimately passed, it did so with notable disagreement. I did not support the legislation, as I believed the changes raised concerns about vetting standards and overall safety.
Regardless of political differences, the priority now is ensuring that our service members receive the care, support, and protection they need, and that their families know the nation stands with them.
