In July 2025, there was a public call for impeachment proceedings against Donald Trump, with nearly 1 million signatures delivered to the House Judiciary Committee by Free Speech for People and Women’s March.However, the likelihood of impeachment and removal from office in 2025 is considered low given the current political climate.
Regarding criminal proceedings, Donald Trump faces an indictment in Georgia related to election interference in 2020. However, the Georgia Court of Appeals disqualified Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from the case in December 2024. The future of this case remains uncertain as another prosecutor could take Willis’s place, according to Wikipedia. Additionally, there’s a question of whether a state-level prosecutor can prosecute a sitting president.
It’s also important to note that federal cases against Trump related to attempting to subvert the 2020 election and classified documents were dismissed at the Justice Department’s request in late 2024.
Based on these developments, the possibility of Trump being impeached, removed by Congress, and jailed by Georgia before Christmas Day 2025 appears improbable.
