REPORT: Trump Administration Putting Cuba Invasion Plans Into Motion

The Pentagon has reportedly increased military activity and strategic positioning in the Caribbean, raising questions about rising tensions between the United States and Cuba. According to reporting cited by Politico, U.S. forces have expanded surveillance operations, naval deployments, and regional readiness near the island nation over the past several months.

The buildup comes after President Donald Trump issued an executive order earlier this year describing Cuba as an “extraordinary threat” to U.S. national security. The administration has also accused the Cuban government of deepening ties with adversarial countries and groups, including Russia, China, Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah, while allegedly allowing intelligence activities targeting the United States from close proximity.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio reinforced the administration’s concerns during a recent Cabinet meeting, warning that Cuba’s instability poses a direct risk to American security given its geographic location just 90 miles from Florida. He described the situation as a growing national security challenge that cannot be ignored.

Military assets reportedly deployed in the region include the USS Nimitz carrier strike group, along with guided missile destroyers, cruisers, surveillance aircraft, and reconnaissance drones. Amphibious assault ships carrying thousands of Marines have also been positioned in the wider Caribbean, giving U.S. planners multiple operational options depending on how the situation develops.

Defense analysts say the positioning could serve as a deterrent while also providing flexibility in the event of escalation. Some experts cited in reports noted that carrier strike groups and amphibious forces are capable of supporting a wide range of missions, from show-of-force operations to more direct military action, depending on political decisions made in Washington.

At the same time, lawmakers and regional officials have raised concerns about rising tensions and the possibility of further escalation without congressional authorization. Cuban leadership has responded by increasing military readiness and warning that it is prepared to defend the country if necessary, as diplomatic and military developments continue to unfold in a highly sensitive geopolitical environment.
