Federal prosecutors announced Friday that a longtime Democratic Party operative in Virginia has been arrested and charged with distributing child se.xual abuse material. Randon Alexander Sprinkle, a resident of Henrico County, is facing a federal charge following an FBI investigation that began earlier this year.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, the investigation began in May 2025 when Sprinkle allegedly communicated with an undercover FBI agent on the dating app Jack’d. The complaint states that Sprinkle suggested moving the conversation to the messaging app Telegram, where investigators say he made statements indicating an interest in illegal sexual content involving minors. Those interactions ultimately allowed federal agents to identify and locate him.
On October 16, FBI agents executed a federal search warrant at Sprinkle’s residence. A forensic examination of his electronic devices allegedly uncovered multiple files containing child se.xual abuse material. Investigators reported recovering dozens of files, including videos and images, and said evidence suggested distribution through peer-to-peer file-sharing networks commonly used to exchange illegal content.

Sprinkle was arrested following the search and made his initial appearance in federal court. He is currently being held at the Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia, pending further legal proceedings. He faces a single federal count of distributing child p0 rnography, a charge that carries significant potential prison time if convicted.
Sprinkle previously held prominent roles within Democratic political organizations, including serving as finance chairman for the Democratic Party of Virginia and treasurer for the Metro Richmond Area Young Democrats. Several Democratic officials who had professional ties to him issued statements condemning the alleged conduct. Richmond City Council Vice President Katherine Jordan said she was “shocked and sickened” by the allegations, while Rep. Jennifer McClellan’s office stated the accusations are “appalling” and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
