Police confirmed the shooter responsible for opening fire inside the CVS store at Emory Point has died.
A police officer has also been rushed to the hospital after they were shot while responding to the active-shooter situation near the Emory University Atlanta campus near the main campus of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

An executive at FOX 5 shares that he heard gunshots just west of the shooting location Friday afternoon.
What we know:
A source with law enforcement tells FOX 5 Atlanta the shooter is dead, and a police officer has been injured.
The CVS to which they are referring is located at Emory Point on Clifton Road.
A spokesperson for DeKalb County said the situation is contained and there is no active threat.
“We are asking all residents and members of the campus community to remain indoors as a precaution while the investigation continues,” the statement read in part. “Out of an abundance of caution and in the interest of public safety, we are also requesting news media outlets to move helicopters to a higher altitude as they are interfering with critical radio traffic and law enforcement communication.”
A statement from the Atlanta Police Department reads:
“There is no ongoing threat to the Emory campus or the surrounding neighborhood. The incident involved a single shooter, who is now deceased. One law enforcement officer was injured in the course of the response. Please avoid the area, as the scene remains active and law enforcement continues its investigation. We thank you for your cooperation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.”

SKYFOX flew over the scene to find several police vehicles had been shot up and some leaking fluids. Dozens of fully-loaded police vehicles responded to the scene.
At around 5:45 p.m., SKYFOX 5 spotted what appeared to be a body covered in front of the store. Authorities have not confirmed this.
Police said the situation was contained as of 6:30 p.m.
The Dance 101 Studio, located in the same complex, canceled their classes on Friday night follow the shooting.
What we don’t know:
The name of the shooter has not been released. A motive is now under investigation.
The identity of the officer injured and a current condition was not immediately available.
