Explosion: An Amazon delivery van has reportedly exploded in front of a building in Arlington, just outside Washington, DC.
The cause of the explosion is unknown but nearby buildings did not catch fire.
The smoke could be seen from the other side of the city in the northeast suburbs.
Mercedes in 2023 ordered a recall of 53,000 Sprinter vans from model years 2019 and 2020 after 11 of them caught on fire.
The layout of fuses can cause a wiring harness in their climate control systems to overheat, potentially leading to a vehicle fire, the recall warned.
Whether the van that exploded was one of those subject to the recall is unknown
