A ‘moderate’ Senate Republican, Lisa Murkowski, is facing renewed criticism from supporters of President Donald Trump after expressing concerns during a recent town hall. Murkowski admitted she feels anxious about speaking out against Trump’s tariffs, executive orders, and federal budget cuts, warning of possible political retaliation. “We are all afraid,” she said at a summit of nonprofit and tribal leaders, noting that this is an unprecedented time for her in politics.
Murkowski emphasized her determination to keep using her voice, despite the risks. “I’ve got to figure out how I can do my best to help the many who are so anxious and are so afraid,” she said. Her comments came in response to a question about fears over Trump’s policy decisions, and were captured in a video shared by the Anchorage Daily News. Murkowski, one of the few Senate Republicans openly critical of Trump, has opposed his policies, voted against some of his nominees, and even voted to convict him in his second impeachment trial.READ MORE
