Greg Abbott confirmed that Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and special agents arrested roughly 90 illegal migrants during an operation in Colony Ridge, Texas, targeting criminal and illegal migrants. The operation, in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations, resulted in arrests, including Florentin Chevez-Luna, a deported criminal alien wanted for sexual abuse of a minor. “Border czar” Tom Homan emphasized that the operation was part of a larger criminal investigation, targeting individuals with criminal backgrounds, including several child sexual predators.
The operation, described as “phase one” of a broader investigation, focused on criminal illegal migrants, with arrests made at worksites and traffic stops. Homan clarified that the operation prioritized criminals and national security threats but stressed that anyone in the country illegally was at risk of deportation. While activist groups reminded residents of their rights, the developers of Colony Ridge expressed full support for the operation.
