New ‘DOGE Tracker’ Shows Real-Time Savings For American Taxpayers

DOGE, the new government initiative aimed at cutting bureaucratic waste has already saved American taxpayers over $47 billion, according to a real-time tracker unveiled by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—an oversight body created under President Donald Trump and led by Elon Musk.

The DOGE Tracker, hosted on Polymarket, provides live updates on cost-cutting measures across federal agencies, showing savings that have amounted to $310 per taxpayer in just 26 days since the initiative launched.

With a mission to reduce federal workforce bloat and eliminate unnecessary spending, Musk has spearheaded the termination of redundant government contracts, many of which were tied to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs.

Among the 62 cost-cutting initiatives so far:

  • $1.9 billion in misplaced Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds were recovered.
  • $60 million worth of EPA DEI and environmental justice contracts were canceled.
  • The Department of Education shut down grants to four “Equity Assistance Centers,” saving $33 million.
  • A $3 million contract for a report proving that previous reports were ignored was canceled.

The tracker reflects only 2% of the administration’s ultimate $2 trillion savings goal, which is set to run through July 4, 2026.

The DOGE initiative has marked one of the boldest attempts to shrink the size of the federal government, a longtime priority of conservative lawmakers and fiscal hawks. The temporary initiative was established by President Trump on January 20, through an executive order.
