On Wednesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) fiercely criticized Hunter Biden, accusing him of evading a lawful subpoena for a deposition. Greene showed her discontent with Hunter’s decision to conduct a press conference outside the Capitol, instead of complying with the subpoena issued by Chairman James Comer.
“Hunter Biden refusing to show up today is unacceptable,” Greene explained. “President Trump’s own children sat for hours and hours, seven, eight, nine hours each of them in front of Democrat-led committees. Why is it a double standard for the Biden family?”
“Hunter Biden clearly is trying to hide and cover up the money laundering and the abuse of power that he and his father are guilty of.”

“What do you make of this press conference he had outside the front of the Capitol?” one reporter asked.
“Oh, I mean, he’s obviously guilty,” Greene replied. “He went out there in front of the press and spread all of his lies, but he wouldn’t come in here under oath. That’s someone that is clearly trying to hide the truth from the American people.”
“We were even willing to bring cameras in here for him today, but he refused to show up. He went out and played the show in front of the circus and then refused to come in here and follow the law, which he absolutely should do.”
The situation reflects the ongoing political tensions. After initially agreeing to appear before the Oversight Committee, Hunter reneged when he was denied the opportunity to open the hearing to the public. The sudden change rocked Capitol Hill on the same day that Republicans were poised to formalize an impeachment inquiry into President Biden’s involvement with his family’s business affairs.
In response, the House Oversight Committee announced that it will initiate contempt proceedings against the son of President Joe Biden.
“Hunter Biden today defied lawful subpoenas and we will now initiate contempt of Congress proceedings. We will not provide special treatment because his last name is Biden. As our committees were today prepared to depose Hunter Biden, he chose to make a public statement on Capitol Hill instead,” the Republican leaders wrote.
“Today, the House will vote on an impeachment inquiry resolution to strengthen our legal case in the courts as we face obstruction from the White House and witnesses. Today’s obstruction by Hunter Biden reinforces the need for a formal vote. President Biden and his family must be held accountable for their corruption and obstruction.”
The mountain of evidence against Hunter is substantial. Special counsel David Weiss has charged the embattled first son in two states with crimes related to tax fraud stemming from overseas business deals. James Biden, the brother of President Biden, has received a subpoena to answer questions about the money he and his wife Sara received from the deals, some of which was transferred into the private bank account of the president.
An astonishing 70 percent of Americans believe President Biden acted unethically around his family’s business dealings, a charge he has unequivocally denied. However, the saga plaguing his son has “consumed” and angered Biden to the point that even some of his closest aides are fearful of broaching the topic, unsure of how he will react.
