Delta Burke’s husband has stood by her for 34 years – even when through sickness and weight gain

Delta Burke and Gerald McRaney, the celebrated couple, have demonstrated the endurance of a strong marriage spanning over three decades. Their journey began when McRaney, captivated by Burke’s charm, was determined not to let her slip away despite fierce competition for her attention. On their second date, he proposed, and in 1989, the couple officially tied the knot.

While this was Burke’s first marriage, McRaney, having experienced two previous marriages, was committed to making this one last. Despite some skepticism from McRaney’s friends, who questioned the union, the couple’s shared understanding of the entertainment industry and their unwavering support for each other became the foundation of their enduring relationship.

Both working in the entertainment industry, Burke and McRaney provided valuable advice and assistance to each other, acting as each other’s biggest supporters in times of success. McRaney expressed that Burke’s feedback on his performances carried significant weight, appreciating her honesty.

In 1998, their marriage faced a significant test when Burke dealt with personal challenges, including the loss of her grandmother, her mother’s breast cancer diagnosis, and a tumultuous period in her acting career. Amidst these difficulties, Burke also struggled with health issues, including hypoglycemia that eventually led to type 2 diabetes. McRaney stood by her side, supporting her through the tough times and helping manage her health, including insulin shots.

The couple weathered the storm together, with McRaney successfully overcoming lung cancer in 2004. They have remained active and focused on their health, with Burke now in a good place regarding her well-being. The couple, who raised McRaney’s three children from a previous marriage, shares a strong bond and has shown the world the true meaning of honoring wedding vows.

Delta Burke has shifted away from acting, and while McRaney does not plan on retiring, the couple has acquired a home in central Florida, indicating a potential move. Their childless union stands as a testament to enduring love, commitment, and the fulfillment of wedding vows. Their story serves as an inspiration for others, showcasing the beauty of a loving and solid marriage.
