Former Jack Pugh, a tight end for the Wisconsin Badgers football, has passed away at the age of 24, according to an announcement from the university. Pugh, a native of Ohio, played for Wisconsin from 2021 to 2022. During his time with the team, he was known for his dedication and character, earning respect from teammates and staff. The university noted that he later completed his degree from University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2025.
In 2023, Pugh publicly shared that he had stepped away from football, citing personal mental health challenges. He explained that while physical factors played a role, his decision was largely driven by a desire to focus on his well-being and seek a healthier, more balanced life.
Following news of his passing, former teammates and members of the football community shared messages of remembrance and support. Braelon Allen, now with the New York Jets, posted a message encouraging others to prioritize their mental health, reflecting the broader impact of Pugh’s story.
