Republicans may LOSE their majority after a shocking retirement bombshell!!!

U.S. Rep. Neal Dunn (R-FL) is reportedly considering the possibility of stepping down from the House before the end of his term, a move that could further narrow the Republican majority in the chamber. While no official announcement has been made, multiple reports indicate discussions are taking place behind the scenes about a potential early departure.

Dunn, who has represented Florida’s 2nd Congressional District since 2017, previously announced he would not seek re-election. The 72-year-old physician and former Army surgeon said in January that he planned to return to private life and spend more time with his family after his current term concludes. His district, located in the Florida Panhandle, has historically leaned Republican.

According to reports, Mike Johnson has encouraged Dunn to complete his term due to the closely divided House. Dunn declined to comment when asked about the reports, and a spokesperson for his office said the speculation did not originate from them, reiterating that he intends to finish his term.

Any change in House membership would come at a time when margins are tight. Recent vacancies — including the resignation of Marjorie Taylor Greene and the passing of Doug LaMalfa — have already impacted the balance.

Special elections are scheduled to fill those seats, as well as the seat vacated by Mikie Sherrill following her gubernatorial victory. Until those races are decided, even a single additional vacancy could affect vote counts on closely contested legislation.
