She’s not alone. Rep. Jason Crow doubled down, vowing Democrats will do “everything they can” to remove Trump from office if they retake the gavel. Impeachment, the 25th Amendment, investigations — all of it is back on the table. Not because of any crime, but because Trump exists and won. The strategy is clear: if they can’t beat him at the ballot box, they’ll try to remove him any other way.
What really enrages Democrats is this simple fact: Trump didn’t just win the Electoral College — he won the popular vote too. The very metric Democrats cling to whenever they lose suddenly became meaningless the moment Trump dominated it. When they lose the Electoral College but win the popular vote, they cry “illegitimate.” When Trump wins both, they claim voters were “misled” and democracy itself is under threat.
This has nothing to do with protecting democracy. It never has. It’s about power. Democrats are perfectly fine with the rules as long as they win. When they lose, the system suddenly becomes immoral, broken, or corrupt. Heads they win. Tails they demand investigations, impeachment, and resistance.
We’ve seen this movie before, and the sequel is already written. Today Trump is “literally Hitler.” Tomorrow, whoever follows him will be “even worse.” Whether it’s J.D. Vance, Marco Rubio, or Ron DeSantis, the next Republican leader will instantly become the new existential threat — the new “end of democracy.”
And then, right on schedule, the revisionism will begin. Democrats will reminisce about how Trump was “at least predictable,” how things were “more stable back then,” and how he suddenly looks moderate compared to the next Republican.
