Thanedar stated that the family was simply driving home after their son’s basketball game when the incident occurred. He portrayed the situation as an example of innocent people being harmed by aggressive enforcement tactics.
In his view, incidents like this demonstrate that ICE cannot be fixed through reforms or policy adjustments. He argued that the agency’s structure and methods are fundamentally flawed.
