In a truly bizarre moment, Isaiah Martin, a Democrat running for Texas’s 18th Congressional District, was escorted out of a redistricting hearing in Austin and arrested for an unhinged rant where he refused to yield the microphone to other speakers.
For context, during his absurd screed, he shouted, “America will rise up against you,” among other slogans. Martin’s political stunt shows the Democrats’ desperation to halt Republican led redistricting, which could yield five additional seats for the GOP in Texas.
In any case, Martin began his unhinged remarks by whining about the proposed redirecting. He raved, “Many of you that are Republicans, and I’m looking at you, you understand the game. You gotta get Trump’s endorsement. That’s the name of the game to be a Republican nowadays. And you know very clearly that Trump told every single one of you that he needs five seats.”
As tension began to rise and Martin was escorted out of the room, the Democrat continued to shout invectives. He cried, “It is a shame. It is horrific. For what you have …America will rise up against you!…no shame…history might not remember you at all.”

While the congressional hopeful was arrested for his disorderly conduct, a post to his official social media account on July 25, 2025, confirmed that all charges were dropped. The account stated, “UPDATE: Isaiah will be released from Travis County Jail tonight. Thank you to everyone who personally reached out to help move the needle on his release. Nobody should be detained for their freedom of speech, and I’m grateful for the love and support.”
Still trying to spin this stunt into a political boost, the unprincipled Democrat gave his best guess as to why he was arrested. He whined, “They did this because I had the audacity to speak up, and you know what? I’m gonna continue to have that audacity. Because strongly worded letters won’t get us out of this mess. It takes speaking truth to power no matter what the consequences are.”
Far from the only woke activist to oppose the redistricting, Gary Bledsoe, President of the Texas NAACP, said, “If this proposal goes through, that means 84% of congressional seats would be controlled by white voters. If Trump gets five more seats, it becomes 87%. If that doesn’t tell Black and Brown people they don’t matter, it absolutely does.”
In a vitriolic post to social media, Martin explained the Democratic plan going forward. He said, “Donald Trump *thought* he could gerrymander Texas MID DECADE without a response. Out of his mind. Blue states will now RUTHLESSLY gerrymander out Republicans to counteract this insanity. If rules are good for Republicans, they’re good for us!” adding, “Audacity is how we’ll win this WAR!!”

Hinting that this strategy has caught on in deep-blue states, another inflammatory post read, “LET’S GOOOO!!!!! Kathy Hochul and New York are ON BOARD to ruthlessly gerrymander Republicans out of their seats. Exactly what we need, CRUSH THEM! Trump started this war by coming after Texas, DEMOCRATS will finish it FIGHT WITH ”
