A Midwestern state is set to create its own version of “Alligator Alcatraz,” the infamous migrant detention center that the Trump administration recently opened in Florida.
Indiana lawmakers are said to be working with U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement to establish a new facility that could accommodate hundreds of migrants awaiting deportation, as reported by Fox News. Known as the “Speedway Slammer,” the center is part of ICE’s larger initiative to increase immigration detention capacity by 80,000 beds over the next year.
BIG NEWS, Patriots! The US Senate CONFIRM !! President Trump stood firm and said NO!
“COMING SOON to Indiana: The Speedway Slammer. We’re excited to announce a new partnership with the state of Indiana to boost detention bed capacity by 1,000 beds,” stated Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. “I appreciate Governor Braun for his partnership in ensuring the removal of the worst offenders from our country. If you are in the U.S. illegally, you may end up in Indiana’s Speedway Slammer. To avoid arrest, consider self-deportation using the CBP Home App.”
The Indiana center is anticipated to add up to 1,000 beds, giving ICE a key location to detain undocumented immigrants captured in blue cities like Chicago, which has emerged as a critical area in the migrant crisis under the Biden administration.
“We are honored to partner with President Trump and Secretary Noem in their efforts to eliminate dangerous individuals through this innovative collaboration,” Indiana Governor Mike Braun remarked on Tuesday. “Indiana is adopting a comprehensive and united approach to addressing illegal immigration and will continue to set an example for other states.”
Funding for the facility comes from the Big, Beautiful Bill, signed into law by President Donald Trump last month.
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Speedway Slammer falls under the 287(g) program, which encourages collaboration between ICE and local law enforcement agencies willing to assist in the capture and deportation of undocumented immigrants.
