The brothers were sleeping at Camp La Junta when they started floating.
Camper 1: “I am one of the campers from Camp La Junta, one of the camps that flooded, and I had a firsthand view of the flood. The cabins were flooding, and the walls were breaking down, and all of the campers in those cabins had to go up on the rafters and wait there until we could swim out.”
Camper 2: “My brother here, he had to swim out of his cabin. The flood started getting bigger, and it was going up to the top bunk, and we had no choice but to swim out of our cabins.”
Reporter: “What time was it? It was so dark.”
Camper 1: “It was like we woke up at 4 a.m.”
Camper 2: “On the way here, we saw all of the other camps destroyed, like obliterated.”
Reporter: “Can you tell me how you guys got out of there? Did they put you guys on buses or what?”
Camper 1: “Yes, we had to get on a bus. We were in other cabins, like cabins on hills, for about 17 hours waiting until the buses got here.”
Camper 2: “And it was not fun.”
At least 24 people have lost their lives in the flood.
Authorities say more than 20 girls are missing from Camp Mystic in Kerr County, according to CNN.
