HOCHUL TO TRUMP: I don’t care if you’re the President of the United States, if you threaten to unlawfully go after one of our neighbors, you’re picking a fight with 20 million New Yorkers — starting with me.

One of the most welcome things, at least for conservatives tired of seeing the left seemingly get away with breaking American laws without repercussions, done in the early days of President Trump’s second term was when newly minted Attorney General Pam Bondi brought charges against New York’s woke political leadership, including Gov. Kathy Hochul.
While that big move from AG Bondi was heavily commented on in the aftermath of the awesome press conference in which the attorney general announced them, one of the underreported moments was a hysteric statement that Governor Hochul released on February 12, in the wake of the charges being brought against her.
Beginning the angry tirade of a press release statement about AG Bondi’s charges, which were also brought against New York AG Letitia James, Gov. Hochul snapped, “Earlier today, Attorney General Pam Bondi marched in front of the television cameras for a dramatic media briefing to announce she was filing charges against New York State related to our immigration laws.”
Continuing, the far-left Governor of New York snapped that the charges she is facing is mere “smoke and mirrors” because the law on which it is based is from years ago, though she failed to explain how a violation of the old law is somehow unimportant. She said, “Hours later, when legal papers were shared with reporters, we learned this was smoke and mirrors: the Department of Justice was filing a routine civil action about a law passed in 2019 that has been upheld by the courts time and again.”
She then claimed that New York is doing enough to aid the federal government in its fight against illegal immigration, an absurd assertion, given the sanctuary status of jurisdictions like New York City. She said, “Here are the facts: our current laws allow federal immigration officials to access any DMV database with a judicial warrant. That’s a common-sense approach that most New Yorkers support.”
Defending sanctuary policies and taking the side of immigrants against the Trump Administration, Gov. Hochul then said, “New York is proud that immigrants from across the globe come here searching for a better life — people like my grandparents who left Ireland looking for the American dream. We welcome law-abiding individuals who want to work, pay taxes and contribute to our communities, while at the same time protecting the public safety of all New Yorkers by cracking down on violent criminals.”
Concluding, she declared, after admitting that she wouldn’t help the Trump Administration with its anti-illegal immigration policies, that she thinks Bondi will fail. She snapped, “We expect Pam Bondi’s worthless, publicity-driven lawsuit to be a total failure, just like all the others. Let me be clear: New York is not backing down.”
