The Invent2Prevent program contracted with far-left organizations to push woke agendas on students.

In recent news, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem has canceled two programs initially supported by the Biden administration, citing concerns over their emphasis on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and LGBTQ+ issues:
  • Invent2Prevent: This program, intended to prevent terrorism, was terminated by Secretary Noem, who stated it was wasteful and funneled taxpayer money into politically-charged organizations promoting DEI and LGBTQ+ ideology in schools.
  • $18.5 million in grants for the Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships (CP3): These grants, aimed at fostering inclusive school environments, were cancelled by the DHS. The agency stated these grants funded “ideologically driven programs” promoting DEI and LGBTQ+ agendas, including groups like the Eradicate Hate Global Summit and Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders. The DHS claims the Biden administration used the CP3 program, originally intended to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts, to push these agendas.
These cancellations are part of a broader trend of the Trump administration eliminating programs they perceive as promoting DEI initiatives. The administration has indicated they will continue to review other agreements made by the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights with school systems nationwide.
It’s important to note that these cancellations have been met with criticism. Some argue that DEI initiatives are crucial for creating equitable and inclusive educational environments for all students. For example, the Education Department’s decision to withdraw from a plan to address discipline disparities for Native American students in South Dakota, based on their assertion that it was rooted in DEI, was met with concern by some parents and advocacy groups who argue that it undermines efforts to address systemic issues affecting students from marginalized communities
