Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-New York, was hospitalized June 25, after feeling lightheaded in the gym, according to his office.
“Out of an abundance of caution, he went to the hospital to be treated for dehydration and is now back at work in the Capitol,” Schumer’s press secretary, Allison Biasotti, said in a statement.
Washington has been broiling this week, with the Mid-Atlantic region under a start-of-summer heat wave.
Temperatures in the capital city have reached above 100 degrees in recent days and hit a high of feels like 109 degrees the day Schumer went to the hospital, according to the National Weather Service.
