‘Depp adores the pub and has done for years,’ claimed a source. ‘Johnny loves the history and has spoken before about wanting to buy a pub. It’s right in the heart of the English countryside.’
Despite its folksy exterior, the Chequers Inn is actually quite ‘posh,’ serving pricy upscale fair that has reportedly turned off the locals.
One disappointed customer told The Sun: ‘It’s not what village folk want. And it’s got so dear in there now.
‘They’ve just got a new menu out which is a really top-notch posh menu – the likes of carrots done in charcoal, etcetera. They’ve hired a new chef and he brought his whole team with him.’

The official trailer for Johnny’s upcoming movie Jeanne du Barry dropped earlier this week.
In the French biographical film, Depp makes his grand return to the big screen by playing King Louis XV — starring alongside actress and director Maïwenn, 46, who was recently accused of assaulting a journalist by ‘spitting in his face.’
The comeback vehicle just received a major boost as it was selected to open the Cannes Film Festival.

The A-lister’s infamous money troubles imploded in 2020 when it became public knowledge that he had squandered a staggering $650 million in movie earnings.
Johnny’s penchant for priceless art, wine, mansions, islands, yachts and private jet travel reportedly contributed to the tragedy of his bank account.
But things are looking up for the Edward Scissorhands star, as he has been mounting a major reinvention in both music and film.
