Jean Carroll is very pleased with today’s decision,” her attorney Roberta Kaplan stated. “Although President Trump continues to try every possible maneuver to challenge the findings of two separate juries, those efforts have failed. He remains liable for sexual assault and defamation.”A majority of the judges on the court came together to deliver this defeat. Trump was hoping for an overturning of the civil jury verdict that held him liable for sexually abusing Carroll. That decision also found him liable of defaming her after she went public with her horrifying story about him.

The two judges who dissented in this new ruling were, not surprisingly, appointed by Trump in 2019 during his first presidential term.The only recourse left now to Trump is the Supreme Court, which may not choose to hear his appeal at all. A MAGA spokesperson has already stated that Trump intends to pursue this final avenue.This decision from the 2nd Circuit could not come at a worse time for Trump as he is desperately trying to project a persona as a “law and order” president in order to justify his fascist crackdowns against anti-ICE protests.
