Valdés Cocho had been arrested last November amidst several fraud accusations.
The Cuban Héctor Luis Valdés Cocho, who was known as an independent journalist and activist and later faced fraud charges in the United States, is currently in ICE custody in Florida and is apparently at risk of deportation.
Valdés Cocho had been arrested last November amid several fraud accusations, and is currently at the Broward Transitional Center under the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as can be read on the agency’s location page.

The reasons for the arrest are unknown, but in the context of the new policies announced by President Donald Trump, this could be in response to a potential deportation.
Although Valdés Cocho, 33 years old, could be deported to the island, the Cuban authorities only accept immigrants whom they wish to receive.
