BREAKING: Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum hits back hard over Donald Trump’s asinine renaming of the Gulf of Mexico — slams Google with a massive lawsuit for changing its maps to say “Gulf of America.”
Our southern neighbor is done playing nice…
The suit proves that Sheinbaum is a woman of her word, since she threatened to carry it out back in February right after Trump made the initial renaming announcement.
Yesterday, House Republicans passed the idiotic “Gulf of America Act” to codify Trump’s Executive Order on the matter. It’s now headed to the Senate.
While Sheinbaum informed reporters earlier today that Mexico had formally filed a lawsuit against the tech giant, she has not yet provided further details. She has argued that Trump’s Executive Order only applies to the section of the continental shelf that belongs to the United States.
“All we want is for the decree issued by the US government to be complied with,” she said.
“The US government only calls the portion of the US continental shelf the Gulf of America, not the entire gulf, because it wouldn’t have the authority to name the entire gulf,” Sheinbaum added.
