The Department of the Interior announced on Friday that oil and gas lease sales on public lands have generated more than $39 million in just the first few months of 2025. These sales reflect the administration’s focus on boosting domestic energy production and reducing reliance on foreign resources.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) leased 34 parcels of land, totaling over 25,000 acres, in the first quarter of 2025. The lease sales took place in Montana, North Dakota, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Nevada, with the combined revenue being split between the federal government and the states where the land is located.
