He explained that once applicants filled out paperwork and waited for their court dates, they could receive work authorization and, eventually, Social Security cards without any formal interview process, highlighting the systemic breakdown.
Gracias also pointed out the staggering number of people benefiting from this broken system, including 1.3 million individuals currently receiving Medicaid. He expressed his disbelief at the scale of the issue and hinted that this may only be the beginning. “If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t believe it,” he said, suggesting there could be even more serious corruption within the Social Security Administration yet to be uncovered.
