NEW: Jasmine Crockett Punished For Mocking Disabled Politician

Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is under fire after mocking Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott during a public event over the weekend—remarks that her critics say targeted his disability, and which have now triggered a formal push for censure.

Rep. Randy Weber, (R-TX), a fellow member of the Texas delegation, announced he will soon introduce a resolution to censure Crockett for what he described as “vile” and “discriminatory” rhetoric.

“The story of our great governor of Texas is one of unwavering resilience and perseverance,” Weber told Fox News. “Meanwhile, the actions of Jasmine Crockett – stooping to vile levels of discrimination and despicable political attacks – are nothing short of reprehensible.”

He added, “It’s painfully obvious she was never taught a single thing about Texas class, as her behavior is a disgrace to everything Texas and the United States stands for.”

Crockett’s controversial remarks came during a Human Rights Campaign event, where she said, “Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there – come on now! And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a** mess, honey.”

The nickname “Hot Wheels” was widely interpreted as a reference to Abbott’s use of a wheelchair. The Republican governor has been paralyzed from the waist down since he was 26, when an oak tree fell on him while he was jogging.

Weber’s forthcoming resolution refers to Crockett’s statement as “discriminatory in nature” and labels it as “the latest in a continued series of inappropriate comments” from the first-term Democrat.

Crockett has since tried to walk back the firestorm, insisting the jab was about Abbott’s policies, not his physical condition.

“I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable,” she posted on X.

“Literally, the next line I said was that he was a ‘Hot A** Mess,’ referencing his terrible policies. At no point did I mention or allude to his condition,” she added.

But that explanation hasn’t satisfied critics like Weber, who doubled down on X: “Jasmine…words have meanings & actions have consequences. I look forward to introducing my resolution to censure you for your words and actions.”

Crockett responded again Tuesday afternoon, calling the backlash a political distraction and accusing her opponents of hypocrisy. “Keep that same energy for all people, not just your political adversaries,” she posted.

“Instead of obsessing over and hanging on to my every word, maybe my political foes should focus on doing the work of the people who elected us to improve their lives.”
